Last week I gorged on 3 Taco Del Mar burritos before heading into the doctor’s office for a checkup. I even got a soda and chugged it in the lobby. The half hour wait was worth it, as all that food and soda settled and began to expand my gut. When I was finally called, the nurse tried to avoid staring at my huge belly but couldn’t help it. As I got on the scale she gasped as she checked my paperwork and said “I’m sorry to bring this up, but I see you’ve put on almost 30 pounds since your last visit… that’s quite significant. It seems to be mostly abdominal mass.” As I remained on the scale she cautiously wrapped the measuring tape around the fullest part of my ballooning gut. “Your BMI definitely puts you at obese for your size,” she said.
